Diverse Abilities welcomes new team members to Fundraising and HR Teams

Dorset’s disability charity, Diverse Abilities, has boosted its fundraising and HR teams with four new team members.

Amber Thorne joins the team as HR Advisor having worked in various roles including a doctor’s secretary for the NHS and Management Trainee for Enterprise rent-a-car before she settled on HR as her passion.

Amber commented: “I have over 4 years’ experience in recruitment & HR and look forward to being able to apply my previous experience and knowledge to this position. I was initially attracted to the role as it was the next step in my career and I wanted to be a part of somewhere that made a difference in the world. This is why I chose Diverse Abilities as I can play a small part in making a huge difference.”

Demi Tarrant joins the fundraising team as Events Executive, delivering a packed events schedule throughout the year.

Demi added: “Before this role I was working as a sewing machinist making sofas! I had worked alongside many different charities whilst working as an events coordinator at an events production company in Brighton. When I decided to move back to my hometown of Bournemouth I knew it was the perfect opportunity to get a role back in events and even better, within a local charity. The four events I have been part of in my short time here have been a lot of fun and I’m now looking forward to our biggest fundraiser of the year, our Gala Ball.”

Francesca Potton joins the fundraising team as Community Fundraiser. Before joining the team Francesca was a supervisor in the Short Breaks Team, and brings a wealth of knowledge about the children’s team with her.

Francesca commented: “I was attracted to the role due to the relationships I get to build in the community, meeting new people and taking on the challenge of something new.”

George Collins joins the team as Marketing Executive working on marketing campaigns and across the charity’s social media platforms. George joins the team from Platinum Skies, as well as having experience in the charity sector.

George added: “I’ve worked in Marketing for around 5 years, working at two different theatres and charities across Southwest. Family members and friends would say I was an empath, and I’m always looking for new ways to be able to nurture this, helping others wherever I can to live a more rewarding life.

“I am looking to make a difference in people’s lives, no matter how small and I think I will be able to bring some knowledge and experience to help Diverse Abilities reach new audiences and nurture already established audiences, as well as provide Marketing support wherever it is needed.”
