TGt Meets...Andrew Rumsey, Even Keel Solutions

Even Keel Solutions is a firm of insolvency practitioners in Dorset that provides high quality insolvency guidance, support and solutions to financially distressed businesses and individuals across the South of England. We chatted to Andrew Rumsey at Even Keel Solutions and member of The Boardroom Network to find out more...

Tell us about your role Andrew...

I am one of the insolvency practitioners at Even Keel Solutions, alongside Dorothy Brown the Managing Director. My role is to provide support, advice and solutions to the clients that are referred to us, but also to spend time networking or meeting current and potential referrers so that we have people to help! Thankfully I enjoy both roles equally.

What are some of the services that you provide?

Our most regular type of work is the liquidation of a company, either insolvent or solvent. If it’s solvent it means we are usually returning cash to shareholders in a tax efficient manner, perhaps after the business has been sold or the directors have chosen to retire. In an insolvent liquidation we are releasing assets and helping creditors & employees - where possible returning money to them. However, what we love doing, and would love to do more, is help directors avoid closure of their company either through general restructuring advice or other insolvency processes that see the survival of the company or underlying business. Early intervention is key and pays dividends!

What do you most love about working in Dorset?

I love the buzz of the networking scene, whether it be in the BCP area or further afield like Dorchester. I don’t know why, but there appears to be so much more going on here than over the other side of the New Forest. There is also a great balance between professional services, business and community.

When you’re not busy working, what do you love doing in your time off?

I’m an avid runner, and you will often find me on the Bournemouth promenade after work or on a Sunday morning. I’m a singer/songwriter and play a few gigs locally. But if we want to talk all things Dorset, then it has to be walking the South West Coast path anywhere from Old Harry’s Rock through to Osmington – What a coast line!! On which note…

Tell us about your favourite restaurant in Dorset

I love sitting in the garden of the Square & Compass at Worth Matravers, but for relaxed vibes more often you will find me enjoying a great wood-fired pizza (uniquely named too) with family or friends at Forno in Winton. For Wow factor food I would have to say the Twelve Eatery is a real find. Sophisticated food that just happens to be vegan.
