Tell us about yourself Lauren...

I grew up in Weymouth and moved to Poole in 2011. I worked in a local solicitor before having my two children and I have been a stay-at-home mum ever since.

Tell us about your business...

I decided to start Luxe Candles when my youngest son was due to start preschool for three mornings a week. I wanted to be able to stay at home to look after the boys and thought that I would try making wax melts and candles and I loved it.

I make wax melts and I'm about to launch a range of candles. It’s not as straight forward as you think to make candles, the trick is to ensure you’re using the right wicks, and getting the scent just perfect takes some time. I have candles all over my house that I’m testing but you will know that you’re buying the perfect candle once I start selling them. The process has taken me months.

What is your favourite scent?

Oh, that’s a hard one. I genuinely do like them all but I think my favourite has got to be Warm Woods & Cashmere and Black Cherry.

When you’re not busy working, what do you love doing with your time off in Dorset?

My littlest is not yet at preschool so when I’m not working, we go swimming and enjoy going out for walks. I really enjoy going to the Creekmoor ponds to feed the ducks and going to Poole Park.

When we don’t have the children, my husband and I enjoy going for dinner at Isabel’s Brasserie in Penn Hill.
