SAFEmpowerment: Helping women feel safe this christmas
The festive season, while a time of joy for many, brings increased vulnerability to those affected by domestic abuse.
Alarming statistics reveal that over the Christmas period, at least 15,000 children witness domestic abuse, and 1 in 4 women anticipate an increased risk of emotional or physical harm from their partner.
The season’s stressors – from financial pressures to increased alcohol consumption – are often used as excuses for abusive behavior, and opportunities for victims to reach out are limited with schools closed and fewer external contacts.
For survivors and women who have “lost their voice,” SAFEmpowerment offers a Women’s Self-Empowerment Course.
This 7-week, one-on-one program covers crucial topics such as recognising warning signs, setting boundaries, and rebuilding trust.
Led by a specialised domestic abuse advisor, the course aims to empower women, helping them rediscover their strength and forge a future free from abuse.
