Tell us a little bit about yourself…

I’ve been in HR for over 25+ years so there’s nothing I haven’t seen or done! I’ve worked at Senior Vice President HR level for big corporates but I much prefer working with SME’s which is why I do what I do now. 

When I’m not working I spend time with my 2 kids and love playing netball!

What is Skora HR?

We provide HR support for small businesses. Whether their HR ‘to do’ list is getting too long or they need help with people challenges, we’re there. We help them stay out of trouble too by helping them remain legally compliant.

How are Skora HR different to any other HR agency in Poole?

We don’t push HR processes for the sake of process and make you jump through legal hoops in dealing with your people! We listen to what you want to achieve and find a way to get you the result you want. We are employment law qualified so we know how to give you commercial options.

Aside from the problem employees, we also help you with the nice stuff. We know how to put strategies in place to boost your business too, whether it’s reducing your staff turnover or increasing your staff engagement.

What are some of the services you provide?

• We help mediate and resolve workplace conflicts.
• We create staff handbooks, policies and contracts to set clear expectations and lay out the gives and gets for employees.
• We help businesses gauge employee satisfaction and engagement, helping them improve their work environments
• We implement an HR system to store all your employee data and manage your HR processes such as booking holidays and sickness absence.
• We deliver training to help managers and employees develop their skills.
• We develop and implement HR processes, providing tools and guidance e.g. performance evaluation and absence management.

What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?

I love learning how many different businesses operate and getting to know the business owners, showing them the value of what a great HR provider can do for them and their business!

What do you think attracts business people to Poole?

What’s there not to love especially with Poole’s beaches and historic maritime heritage.  The business community is fantastic with a strong presence of SME’s and a growing technology and innovation sector. SME’s here benefit from various entrepreneurship and business support organisations and initiatives too.

What has been your biggest achievement to date?

Skora HR is over 3 years old now and it’s grown from strength to strength so it would be the fact that I’ve been able to add value to a wide variety of businesses and see real results when they achieve the things they wanted to achieve with as little hassle as possible.

How do you like to spend your time off?

I love to spend time with my children who are both avid football players so I spend a lot of time watching them training of an evening or play matches at weekends.  When I’m not doing that, I like to play netball and get out for a run.
