Tell us a bit about yourself...
Married mum of two crazy boys, very energetic and keep busy. Work full time alongside parenting. Have a beautiful big labrador – woody who is the love of my life.
Tell us about your business...
I manage a busy reception team at DLP and run duty manager shifts looking after the club. I am also the club community champion and look to ‘do good’ in the community though fundraising and charitable event locally. 9 years at the Poole club and know the team and members very well. Feel very engaged with both members and team.
What do you love most about your job?
I enjoy the interaction with the members and team, extremely rewarding. The variety of the roel and the fact that no two days are ever the same, always using and learning different skill sets depending on what is going on. The fact they offer career progression opportunities is great for development. Variety of hours and social wellbeing make it a great place to work.
What is your proudest achievement?
Team member of the year in 2021 for the Poole club which resulted in an all-expenses paid trip to the Miami with other national winners. I won this for stepping up and covering various senior roles in the club and stepping up to HOD.
This year’s IWD theme is ‘Inspire Inclusion’ - what does this mean to you?
Inclusion to me is opening and welcoming all staff and members regardless of age, race or ethnicity. Everyone equal and same opportunities open to everyone.
What are the biggest challenges you have faced in your career?
Dealing with the member experience on a daily basis and the highs and lows that this can bring with emotions and behaviour, trying to manage a busy family with lots of activities and work balance and not neglect them for work.
How do you balance your business and personal life?
It's challenging! easier to manage by having a good plan in advance for work and kids events. Organisation is the key. Having a good team around me enables support when there are time challenges
Which women inspires you the most?
My grandma, lived to 101. Family values were always a priority. Ensured as she got older, I looked after her, also my mum looked after the family on her own for last 45 years.
