The café, named after the people of the Calabrian region, welcomed its first customers on Saturday 22nd June, on Yelverton Road.
The space, previously Nab's barber shop, has been transformed by owners Angela Piomatti and Dave Eyre. They have worked since February to prepare the shop, drawing inspiration from Angela's Italian heritage. To honour her family, Angela plans to decorate the café with photos of her Italian relatives and has named every sandwich on the menu after them. One notable sandwich, 'the Angelo,' is named after Angela's grandfather.
Angela and Dave chose Bournemouth town centre over several other potential locations, including Westbourne, which they felt was oversaturated. Their goal is to attract people back to the heart of the town.
