REVIEW: La Mia’s Mediterranean Tapas

Summer is here, what could be more inviting than a rich, classic Mediterranean tapas to excite your tastebuds? La Mia’s is a beautiful new edition to Poole Quay serving an array of Mediterranean small plates daily from breakfast right through to dinner. We have heard the most amazing things about La Mia’s since its opening in May, so we couldn’t wait to check it out!

Once we stepped into La Mia’s, we were met with a relaxed and warming atmosphere. We stepped in from what was a rather grey and drizzled day outside on the quay to the soft lighting and rustic homely feel. There is plenty of seating at La Mia’s including the choice of bar stalls, booths and a sofa area making it a great location whether you’re grabbing a quick drink after work with friends, having a coffee whilst you work remotely or stopping by for a meal with the family.

The La Mia’s team were really attentive, getting us seated quickly and taking a drinks order, they took time to talk us through the menu, I don’t know if it’s just me but when it comes to small plates and tapas I am always worried there won't be enough but our waiter talked us through portion sizes and there was most definitely ENOUGH! It was great to know that they cater for different allergies too and that around 90% of their menu is gluten free!

Our choices consisted of; Whipped Feta with truffled honey and toasted pine nuts, Baked Camembert spiked with garlic and rosemary topped with red onion chutney, Mixed Platter, Garlic King Prawns with fresh parsley, Deep fried Calamari with lemon and aioli and Patatas Bravas.

Each dish was flavoured to perfection and certainly did not disappoint! My personal favourite was the Deep-fried Calamari, from the crispness of the batter to the zesty taste of the lemon, this dish was a strong 10/10. I am already planning my next visit based on that!

Overall, we loved our visit to La Mia’s, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The food was delicious, the waiting team were lovely and so helpful, providing excellent service. We cannot wait to go back and try some more dishes as well as the cocktails which looked amazing!

There are so many great events coming up at La Mia’s it’s well worth checking them out, plus great offers like 15% off for locals. So, if you are looking for an unforgettable dining experience to have with family and friends, this is the place to go. We can’t wait for our next visit.
