REVIEW: Brasserie Blanc Winter Menu

There’s something about winter dining that feels extra special—cosying up in a warm, inviting space with a glass of wine while indulging in rich, seasonal flavours.

Brasserie Blanc in Bournemouth has nailed that feeling with their latest winter menu, and as someone who loves trying new dishes, I couldn’t wait to dive in.

Walking into Brasserie Blanc, you immediately feel at ease. The warm lighting, stylish yet comfortable décor, and friendly staff create a relaxed atmosphere that makes it perfect for a casual dinner or a special occasion. The wine list is excellent (as always), but more on that later—let’s talk about the food.

Their winter menu introduces some fantastic new additions, starting with the Guinea Fowl en Croûte. I’ll be honest—I’d never tried guinea fowl before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But this dish was amazing! The meat was tender and full of flavor, wrapped in a perfectly crisp, golden pastry with a rich just that brought everything together beautifully. It was a hearty yet refined start to the meal, and I’d absolutely order it again.

Another tempting new option on the starter list is the Jerusalem Artichoke and Winter Leek Salad—a great choice if you’re after something a little lighter but still packed with flavor. The roasted artichokes had a lovely nuttiness, while the leeks added a subtle sweetness, all tied together with a zingy dressing. A fresh and vibrant way to kick things off.

For my main, I went for the Roasted Cod Fillet, and I have to say, it was one of the best fish dishes I’ve had in a while. The cod was cooked to perfection—flaky, moist, and full of flavor—and the saffron sauce was absolutely stunning. Rich, velvety, and aromatic without overpowering the delicate fish, it was the perfect balance. If you’re a seafood lover, this one’s a must-try.

Other new mains include the Roasted Pheasant Supreme, which Emma tried. This was served with a deep red wine reduction and seasonal veg, it’s the kind of dish that feels like a proper winter treat—warming, bold, and full of flavor.

Of course, the dessert menu was so tempting their Le Grand Soufflé looked like an absolute showstopper. But we were far too full after mains, so that is for our next visit!

Throughout the meal, the service was faultless—attentive without being intrusive, and the staff really know their stuff when it comes to wine pairings. Speaking of which, their selection is excellent, with plenty of options to complement the winter menu.

A quick note on parking: if you’re driving, you can park at the Marriott Hotel. It’s chargeable, but actually cheaper than most other places in Bournemouth, and you simply pay at the hotel’s front desk. Handy to know, as parking around that area can get a little tricky.

All in all, Brasserie Blanc has absolutely nailed their winter menu. Thoughtful, seasonal, and full of flavor, it’s the kind of food that makes you want to settle in and stay a while. Whether you’re a regular or you’ve never been before, it’s well worth a visit this season.
