Review: Lunch at Delfino Lounge Poole

Review: Lunch at Delfino Lounge

No more compromising on family meals out! Shopping with a baby and toddler in tow is hard work but I always find the promise of a nice lunch out works wonders to encourage good behaviour!

I've eaten at Loungers in Bath and Bristol and they were always great, so I was delighted when my daughter liked the look of Delfino Lounge - and it didn't disappoint either of us!

Family meals out normally involve a compromise of quality food versus facilities but Delfino Lounge ticked all the boxes for all of us; delicious food, quick and friendly service, fantastic menu (something for everyone), activities to keep the kids entertained, and convenient and spacious downstairs baby change/family toilet. Another bonus was that we didn't need to book in advance and you can just turn up which is rare these days!

We were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who talked us through their new Covid friendly ordering system and seated us; I had the pram and all our shopping so we chose a big table with a sofa which was perfect; there was plenty of space and we could spread out and I was able to feed my baby in relative privacy.

Ordering was super easy - you just go to the app or website, select your dishes and drinks, enter your table number and pay. My daughter wanted a Burger so I decided that we'd skip the kids menu and share a Lounge Cheeseburger from the main menu  and have a few sides too (for the sake of the review of course). They have an enticing Tapas menu, which we ordered the chilli broccoli and the salt and pepper squid from.

While we waited for our food to arrive, my daughter was kept busy with the colouring in paper and crayons and devouring her 'babycinno'.

The food arrived well within 15 minutes which is a bonus with an impatient and hungry toddler in tow (I made a mental note for future work lunches too!).

The burger was succulent with generous helpings of melted cheese, gherkins and a brioche bun, the fries were crispy and the homemade coleslaw fresh and crunchy.

The tapas dishes were delicious and I'd like to return with my husband for a tapas night. The plates were very small though (fortunately for me, my daughter was more interested in the burger and fries) so you would need to order at least 4 plates each if you're having as a main.

As we had already paid via the app, we didn't have the usual wait around to settle the bill so I hope the covid measures stay in place as dining out does overall seem a lot slicker now.

I really recommend Delfino Lounge for a family treat where both parents and kids will be happy (and it looks like a great choice for all occasions too!)
