The Oaks, Highcliffe to host second ‘Dogs that Lunch’ monthly walk to celebrate launch of April lunch club menu ahead of National Pet Day

A dog friendly pub in Highcliffe is returning with their monthly dog walk initiative as well as inviting people to come and taste their new seasonal lunch menu.

To celebrate the launch of their April ‘Lunch Club’, The Oaks in Highcliffe will throw its second monthly ‘Dogs that Lunch’ event. The pub will host a mid-week dog walk along the seafront on Thursday 25th April at 10:30am, organised and led by a member of their team, before regrouping back at the pub for a taste of their fixed price lunch menu.

The April Lunch Club which launched today will not only showcase some of the season’s best produce and give you a tasty, fixed price lunch menu, but also encourage locals to get out of their houses, get down to their local, and get cosy by the fire or in one of the pubs many homely spots.

During Lunch Club, Served Monday to Friday from 12-5pm, diners can enjoy 2 courses for £18.50 or 3 courses for £23.50.

The Oaks, awarded the top 3 star rating from The Sustainable Restaurant Association, will change the dishes of this set menu monthly to celebrate the delicious seasonal ingredients that each season brings.

As Spring is officially sprung, it’s only fitting that this April should celebrate all things green, with a seasonal spotlight on an array of British-grown gems, including the brilliantly green and deliciously sweet green pea featured in their pea and mint soup starter. Minted peas and peppery watercress are also being served up alongside their succulent grilled haddock, as well as chicken ballotine, steak frites and a vegan friendly chickpea salad.

To complete this seasonal feast guests can sample a sweet pineapple pavlova, cherry and apple compote or a rich chocolate marquise for dessert. The menu precedes the release of Heartwood Inns’ new dedicated Dog Menu, which coincides with National Pet Day on April 11th, dogs can join their owners and indulge in a range of flavourful and nutritious dishes from canine hospitality partner Sir Woofchester, choosing from menu items including a 'roast dinner bowl’ and 'fish and chips'.

This isn’t the only thing guests, and their dogs, can sink their teeth into at The Oaks, from Happy Hour every weekday from 5-7pm, Wednesday Steak Nights, Sunday roasts with bottomless trimmings. The dog friendly pub in Highcliffe is keen to be a hub for the community.

As part of Heartwood Inns - a collection of cosy pubs awarded the best Food-Led Pub Group by Restaurant R200 in 2023 - The Oaks is hoping that Lunch Club will help locals connect, inviting them to share great food, alongside great company.

General Manager at The Oaks, Jack Halford, said: ‘Our monthly dog walks will not only get people out and about with their dogs, they are also a great way to meet like-minded people in your area and enjoy some great company and great food. The turnout this month was so positive so, while the weather let us down, we’re really excited to bring the community dog walk back this month!’
