REVIEW: The Wimborne Pig’s NEW Spring Menu

Spring is in the air, and what better way to celebrate the new season arriving than indulging in a food filled adventure at The Wimborne Pig? Located in the pretty market town of Wimborne, this gorgeous spot has long been renowned for providing an exquisite dining experience. We’ve heard such great things so couldn’t wait to head down and try out their new Spring menu.

As we stepped into The Wimborne Pig's lovely, cosy venue, we were immediately struck by its intimate ambiance—a perfect setting for a romantic date night or any special occasion. The rustic seasonal décor, warm lighting, and inviting atmosphere set the stage for an unforgettable evening ahead.

We were quickly seated and guided through the evenings specials before starting with an amuse bouche of pan fried mullet served on giant cous cous, so delicious and certainly a sign of things to come. For starters, James had the cheese soufflé with pesto and bacon, the lightness of the soufflé was perfectly complemented by the richness of the pesto and the smokiness of the bacon I snuck a bite and it was incredible. Equally as good were the meatballs served in a rich tomato sauce with chorizo, a dish so full of flavour.

Moving on to the main courses; James opted for the local honey-glazed pork belly served with Dauphinoise potatoes and a rhubarb and orange jus, which he declared the best pork belly he had ever eaten (bold statement). The ingredients just complimented each other so well.

I had the catch of the day with was a fillet of Brill, I chose to have it with a lemon and caper butter, new potatoes and seasonal veg. It was pan-fried to perfection and full of flavour.

No meal would be complete without something sweet, and The Wimborne Pig did not disappoint in the puddy department. The sticky toffee pudding with caramelised banana and vanilla ice cream was such a treat, the richness of the pudding was well balanced by the creaminess of the ice cream and the caramelised bananas. Meanwhile, I had the chocolate pot with berry compote, a special on the night - it was insane! I am a chocoholic and this certainly hit the spot.

Throughout our dining experience, the attentive staff ensured that we felt welcomed and well taken care of. They patiently talked us through the menu, sharing insights into the sourcing of ingredients and the inspiration behind dishes. It was evident that a lot of love and care had gone into crafting every aspect of our meal.

Overall, our experience dining at The Wimborne Pig was nothing short of exceptional. From the cozy atmosphere to the impeccable service and, most importantly, the outstanding food, every element exceeded our expectations.

If you're looking for a memorable dining experience that celebrates the best of local produce, look no further than The Wimborne Pig. We give it a resounding 10/10 and can't wait to return for another culinary adventure.
