Review: Millies Cove Coffee Shop Hamworthy

At long last there is a coffee shop on Coles Avenue in Hamworthy!

It baffled me that such a busy community has limited amenities, especially with the wealth of family and military homes within a close walking distance, so I was delighted when I saw the signage go up at Millies Cove last month.

As soon as it opened, we couldn't wait to give it a try. 

Millies has the feel of a small, family run traditional coffee shop but with a 'proper' coffee machine and offering homemade breakfasts, lunches and cakes.

It's only a small coffee shop with about six tables inside and two out, but it's certainly not all crammed in and I easily got the big pram in and tucked it out of the way.

The furniture and decor is warm and welcoming; much like the staff who greeted us enthusiastically and my daughter was very taken with George, the chef who gave her a free lollipop so she's completely smitten and wants to return most days!

The lunch menu is perfect for a quick bite; with fresh sandwiches and paninis made to order (they cater for vegan and gluten free diets too). I went for the tuna sandwich for my daughter, and a ham and cheese panini for myself, both came with a generous, fresh side salad. 

To drink, Florence had a 'babycino' and although hers was very tempting with all the marshmallows and chocolate sprinkles, I went for the real thing; my cappuccino was perfect with plenty of foamed milk! She'd spotted a Rocky Road in the cake display when we walked in so how could I refuse one to go with her luxury babycino, I managed a quick bite before she'd demolished it and it had generous helpings of nuts, dried fruit, chocolate and marshmallows.
