A DIY festival celebrating roots music will be returning to Dorset this summer

The Rustic Stomp takes place at Pike's Farm, Organford, nr Poole from the 12th of July to the 14th.

This year sees the welcome return of headliners Moonshine Wagon and newcomers to the Stomp Angry Zeta.

Moonshine Wagon are a heavy-bluegrass band from the Basque Country formed in 2013 in Vitoria. Since then, they have continued touring halls and festivals throughout Europe and parts of America in their motorhome, “The Wagon,” doing what they love most, bringing the "yeehah".

Trained by the distracted audiences of the streets of Buenos Aires, Angry Zeta learned early how to get a crowd’s attention – and once they have it you won’t be able to look away. Fast is their tempo of choice, and loud is how they make themselves known. They will be heard. Any room they play will be filled with their iconic bluegrass-country-punk sound.

Other big hitters from the Roots-Americana scene include Frank from Blue Velvet, The Boot Heel Playboys, Jayke Orvis & The Band of Brothers and the Joli Blon Cajun Band together with local favourites like the Trav Cats, Ribble, The Jimmy Hillbillies, Dead Horse Bay, 16 String Jack and Burg & The Vagabond Choir to pick out just a few.

As well as the amazing lineup of over 60 Rootsy acts, we'll have a barn this year to help us weatherproof the event, we welcome a silent disco 'The Midnight Cowboy', a great vegan food provider 'Fresh Rootz', improved facilities and a few cunning plans for shenanigans through the day.

The Rustic Stomp takes place at Pikes Farm in Organford from Thursday, July 11th to Sunday, July 15th.

The Rustic Stomp is a unique festival that's been running in Dorset under several names for well over a decade.

The Rustic Stomp is an eclectic mix of the finest Roots music from the international, national and local Roots scene.

Ski Daddle says "The Rustic Stomp is the perfect to come and see some of your favourite local country, hoedown and Skiffle bands, whilst at th same time being introduced to new music from the international and global scene. Bands have often graced the UK for the first time at the Rustic Stomp and then gone on to Garner a national following, retiring year after year. There is nothing quite like the Rustic Stomp."

The Rustic Stomp is hosting three days of music with a rustic aesthetic, bringing together local, national, and international artists offering a bluegrass, hoedown, blues, swamp stomp country-based festival.

The festival attracts a passionate and loyal following of festival goers and welcomes new members to the Stomp Family with open arms.

You will not find a greater collection of gifted musicians in a field for one weekend anywhere else in Dorset. You'll find some of the best fiddle, banjo, mandolin, geetar, accordion and double bass players around, plus the odd drummer or three.

Hawkeye Houlihan and friends hosted the first Wonky Donk festival 10 years ago at the Donkey Sanctuary at Home Farm in Lytchett Matravers. Following the pandemic, we wrapped several events into one The Dark Holler, Wonky Donk and the Organford Fair all became the Rustic Stomp.

Hawkeye said: "Each year we are aiming to increase the accessibility of this type of music to a wider audience and promote the local artists that provide the backbone to the scene, as well as bring in some top-ranking national and international stars.
