Adventure Attractions and BCP Council temporarily suspend Bournemouth Pier Toll

In a boost for local residents and visitors, Adventure Attractions, operators of Bournemouth Pier, have announced the temporary suspension of the pier toll for 2025, thanks to a significant investment and close working partnership with BCP Council. While many piers across the UK are raising entry fees, Adventure Attractions is bucking the trend, making Bournemouth Pier more accessible to the local community and tourists.

Sarah Hunter, Managing Director of Adventure Attractions, said: “In these challenging times, when many people have less disposable income, we believe the pier should be a place that everyone can enjoy. We’ve worked closely with BCP Council to make this happen and remove the toll charge, opening up the pier to locals for Free throughout the year*.”

Sarah continued: “This is a major investment for us, but we hope that increased footfall and community support will allow us to continue developing pier operations. Our goal is to make free entry permanent, and we’ll be reviewing the results of this initiative with BCP Council throughout the season and at the end of the year to assess our options moving forward.”

The suspension of the toll comes at a time when the cost of visiting attractions and coastal piers elsewhere in the UK is rising. This move is expected to boost visitor numbers, encourage local engagement, and breathe fresh energy into the pier’s attractions, including the family-friendly RockReef indoor climbing walls, Pier zip wire and the popular Key West restaurant.

Councillor Richard Herrett, Portfolio Holder for Destination, Leisure & Commercial Operations said: “Bournemouth Pier is a well-loved and iconic attraction which has been welcoming visitors for almost 150 years. This move means it can be enjoyed by even more people and I’m looking forward to seeing residents and visitors making good use of it over the coming months!

“This a great example of strong partnership working and I would like to thank everyone at Adventure Attractions and BCP Council for their work to make this happen.”

A small entrance fee may apply to tourists during busy holiday periods to help manage capacity. However, access will remain free for locals year-round, provided they show proof of address to verify residency

This positive news marks a significant step in the pier’s journey and reflects Adventure Attractions’ commitment to investing in Bournemouth’s iconic seafront and its local community.
