Sandworld Weymouth Review

REVIEW: Sandworld, A Surprisingly Epic Day Out in Weymouth

On the hunt for different Easter holiday activities in Dorset, we recently visited Sandworld in Weymouth with my two girls (7 and 4) and some friends visiting from Devon (including two energetic boys 9 and 5).

To be honest we were only expecting a quick hour stop as it didn't look very big and there didn't seem to be much more than the sculptures themselves. Well… over four hours later, we were still there and the kids were still going strong! Safe to say, this place massively exceeded our expectations.

Sandworld is an indoor and outdoor attraction packed full of impressive sand sculptures and tons of hands-on fun for kids (and big kids too). We started by exploring the awe-inspiring themed displays – from mythical creatures to famous faces – with the kids excitedly ticking off things on the interactive trail (the older two loved going round and reading the descriptions and answering the questions (there was two sets of questions - easy and more challenging), and the younger two loved counting all of the lions dotted around). The team at Sandworld had clearly thought of all ages.

One of the biggest hits of the day was the sand art station, where each of the kids chose a shape to fill with coloured sand (prices range from £5 to £10 depending on the item – my two picked a unicorn and a fossil). It was lovely to sit down and do this with them (us Mummy's enjoyed it just as much as the kids; super satisfying and they were so proud of what they created and they are now proudly on display in their bedrooms (a lovely keepsake from beautiful memories made!).

But the real highlight? The giant sandpit. The four of them spent well over two hours digging (I had to extend the parking!), shaping, building, and laughing. They made everything from turtles to drip castles, and what really made it special was the amazing staff, who jumped right in with the kids, helping them with their creations and giving tips. Their enthusiasm and interaction made a huge difference. My friend and I commented how lovely it was to see all of the children so captivated, they didn't get bored once and they even weren't ready to leave when it was time to go for a very late picnic.

There’s plenty of seating for grown-ups to chill with a coffee while the kids play (there's a small shop/cafe area where we purchased ice creams for all. The relaxed vibe makes it easy to stay much longer than planned – as we did!
Whether you're in Dorset or further afield, Sandworld is a must-visit for families. It’s creative, engaging, and unexpectedly magical. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Weymouth!

Thanks for the memories Sandworld!
