Techno From The Tower: St James' Church to host music event

An exciting electronic music event is set to transform the bell tower of St James' Church in Poole this month.

Local electro artist RMCL will take the stage for "Techno From The Tower," where modern beats will resonate against the backdrop of the 800-year-old church, creating a striking contrast between past and present.

Taking place at sunset, the event promises a truly unique audiovisual experience.

Attendees can expect drones to capture and showcase the stunning Georgian architecture of St James' Church, affectionately known as "the fishermen's church" due to its deep roots in the local fishing industry.

Organised by OCOL (One City One Light), this event is poised to offer an unforgettable evening where history and modernity collide in a spectacular display.

Toby Gardner, broadcast director of OCOL, said: "Broadcasting from unconventional spaces is something we love doing, but every location presents its challenges. It will be a long climb up the tower with all our kit, but we have done worse."

While the performance unfolds on the bell tower rooftop, residents are invited to attend a watch party inside the church.

However, restrictions apply, with no public access granted to the church tower itself.

The live performance will also be broadcast across several platforms, such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitch and ocol.tv.

OCOL is a non-profit organisation that organises, performs and broadcasts live music events from various cultural and heritage locations across the UK.

RMCL, or Richard McLester, is renowned for his trance-inducing techno fusion.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20.

The exact start time of the performance is yet to be confirmed, but it's approximated for 8pm.

For more updates and information, visit OCOL's website at ocol.tv or their social media pages @onecityonelight.

This techno concert, weather permitting, is poised to be a significant highlight of this season.
