The Great Tail Trail Makes a Splash This Easter in Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole!

Get ready for a magical adventure across the coast as The Great Tail Trail officially launches this Saturday 5th April – ready for the Easter holidays!

Running until Sunday 1st June, this FREE public art trail will showcase a stunning display of 45 giant mermaid tail sculptures and 43 mini ‘tiny tails’ across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. From golden beaches and bustling parks to iconic landmarks, you’ll find these vibrant tails hidden in all corners of the BCP area.

Each sculpture has been beautifully designed by artists from the UK and beyond, with colourful creations inspired by our amazing local landscapes and wildlife.

Art With Heart

Organised by Julia’s House children’s hospice in partnership with Wild in Art, the trail invites locals and visitors to get out, get exploring, and support an incredible cause along the way.

The sculptures have been kindly sponsored by local businesses, with all proceeds helping Julia’s House continue its vital work with children living with life-limiting conditions.

Want to track your journey, collect sculptures and see how many steps you rack up? The Great Tail Trail app is your go-to guide for tail-spotting across BCP.

Community Spirit

Nearly 40 local schools and youth groups have designed their very own mini mermaid tails, which will be displayed in community venues including libraries and charity shops.

Farewell & Fundraising

The trail wraps up with a Farewell Weekend at the Bournemouth International Centre on 14th & 15th June, before the grand charity auction on Friday 20th June, where the spectacular sculptures will be auctioned to raise even more money for Julia’s House.

This is the ultimate Easter holiday adventure for families, art lovers and outdoor explorers alike. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this unique trail that combines creativity, community and a whole lot of fun – all while supporting an amazing local charity.
