Nestled in Dorset, the charming village of Cerne Abbas offers a delightful mix of history, nature, and quintessential English charm. Famous for its iconic chalk giant and serene countryside, Cerne Abbas is perfect for exploring rich heritage and scenic landscapes. Whether you're a history fan, nature enthusiast, or seeking a peaceful retreat, our guide to the Top 10 Things to do in Cerne Abbas will help you experience the best of this enchanting village.

Cerne Abbas is a charming village in Dorset just 9 miles from Dorchester, known for its picturesque setting, historical sites, and cultural landmarks.

We have made some lovely memories there as a family. We originally headed there just to see the Cerne Abbas Giant and then shortly realised there is so much more to explore and enjoy than just this.

I recommend you reserve a whole day to gain the most from your visit.

The Giant

Cerne Abbas Giant

Description: You can't visit Cerne Abbas without visiting the Giant and you'd be hard-pressed to miss it. The Cerne Abbas Giant is a famous hill figure of a giant carved into the chalk hillside above the village, believed to date back to the late Saxon period. It's an iconic landmark and a must-see.

Tip: We parked in the car park below the Giant and walked up the hill by the side so you could get a fantastic view of the whole figure (there's no hiding the obvious 'bits' from the kids I'm afraid!). We took a flask of coffee and some snacks for the kids and sat at the top of the hill to enjoy the panoramic views of t he surrounding breathtaking countryside.
