REVIEW: Family Day Out at Farmer Palmers Farm Park

We were recently invited down to Farmer Palmers to explore what they have to offer as a day out for families.

Farmer Palmers is a farm park based in Dorset that is aimed at families with children aged 0-8. Farmer Palmers is open daily from 9:30am and is great in all weather conditions; whilst a few of the attractions are based outside there is also plenty to do inside and under cover.

We arrived at around 10am. The site is well sign posted so easy to find and there was ample parking. After a few minutes we were in, map in hand - ready to explore.

Farmer Palmers has a timetable of daily activities which is located in the main reception. Including things like pig racing, hand feeding the goats and tractor rides. It’s nice as it allows you to create some structure into your day. You can loosely plan which activities you’d like to attend to make sure you fit everything in.

My toddler and I headed straight into the barn. We’d made it just in time for the Guinea Pig holding which she absolutely loved. Although she decided the guinea pig was actually a cat and nothing would change her mind on that. After that we set about saying hello to all the other animals on the farm. According to Elsie they were all either cats or pigs, except of corse when we did come across a pig which she decided was a cow. We will cut her some slack though as she’s only 22 months, she loved meeting all the animals.

All the animals looked happy and really well looked after; we even got chatting to some of the staff as they moved a heard of geese into the field. It’s nice to find out a little more about the animals and see them being so well cared for.

After we’d made sure we said hello to every single animal on the farm it was time for some playing. But not without hand washing it was great to see hand washing stations at different locations all over the farm, little hands always seem to end up in little mouths so they really take care to make sure you can wash your hands after every animal interaction.

Farmer Palmers have so many different play areas it’s hard to know where to go first. You’ve got the sand playground, splash zone (she got soaked in there), pedal tractor’s and go-karts, indoor an outdoor bouncy castle’s, straw mountain, the little farmers fun barn as well as a big indoor soft play. There is so much to keep the little ones busy all day long. Elsie’s favourite’s were the little farmers fun barn (perfect for her age) and music area which she kept darting back to at every opportunity.

After a good play, it was time for lunch. There are lots of picnic benches set up if you want to bring your own food and there is also the hen house serving a variety of hot and cold food, home-made cakes, ice creams and drinks. A really great selection. They are well equipped with highchairs and even have a microwave station for heating up baby foods/milk. Perfect.

After lunch we headed off on a bumpy tractor ride! There is a £1 per person additional charge for this but it really is a great fun.

There is just so much to do at Farmer Palmers, we had such a great day. There are some more activities that are for slightly older children that we didn’t do such as the The World Of Dinosaur Roar Trail and pony grooming but these are activities I am sure Elsie would love in a few years time. Its definitely they kind of place you can visit over and over again and never be bored!

Tickets for the whole day are £15 for adults and any children over 3, 2 year olds are £7.50 and under 2’s are free. There are also annual pass options available. It’s truly a great day out.

They've currently got a fantastic Father's Day offer that gives all dads half price on entry into Farmer Palmers so you can spend a fun family filled day at one of Dorset's best farm parks. Plus, they're hosting a delicious BBQ to make it even more special for Father's Day. You can find out more about it here.
