REVIEW: Paint a Pot Have a Go Experience at Studio Poole

If you are looking for ways to keep the kids entertained in Poole, the Paint a Pot Have a Go Experience at Studio Poole was a hit with my girls and I would highly recommend.

Although we're surrounded by fabulous parks and beaches, we all need a bit of variety and especially if it's raining, it can be difficult to find things to do - so this is a must for your list of things to do with the kids!

You don't need to book ahead (unless you're booking a kids party or hen/stag party) so you can be spontaneous which is definitely a bonus for busy parents.

Although it's tucked away in the corner of Poole Quay, it's in a fantastic spot - with plentiful parking and all of the amenities of the Quay and the Town Centre just a stone's throw away.

As it's the summer holidays, we're working through our itinerary and although this would have been a great thing to do on a wet day we wanted to make an afternoon of being on the Quay so chose a sunny day.

We were greeted warmly by the lovely staff and Florence my eldest (4) was shown the range of pots she could choose from to paint - there's a vast array including piggy banks, unicorns and animals. Flo chose an egg cup and was then shown to a craft table and had an apron put on her. To her excitement she was then presented with a generous mix of paints and paint brushes and couldn't wait to start creating her masterpiece.

There's a tea and coffee machine and a huge Aladdin's cave of items to browse while the kids are busy. I really enjoyed sitting with Flo while she was busy painting; the joy she was taking out of the experience was lovely to see and in the background the staff were painting one-off pieces to sell in the shop, so it was a really warm and creative environment to be in.

Once she was satisfied with her work, the staff then collected her masterpiece so it could dry.

This takes about an hour so we had a lovely time wondering around the Quay and having a spot of lunch in the sunshine.

We really loved our experience and we'll be making it a regular thing; next time we will try hand and foot printing and painting for gifts!

Paint a Pot is situated on Unit D2-D5, Dolphin Quays, Poole, BH15 1HU within the Studio Poole shop, it's a beautiful shop with a huge range of homewares (the only local official Poole pottery stockists, gifts, toys, games and much more).

Studio Poole is open from 10am to 5.30pm and Paint a Pot is open from 10am to 3pm on Mondays to Friday's and until 2pm at weekends and we recommend you reserve 30 to 60 minutes for the painting and then an hour to wait for your items to dry, but there's plenty to see in the shop itself and on the Quay while you wait.
