REVIEW: Spring Family Fun at Lulworth 2025

To kick off the Easter holidays, I took along my mother-in-law, and my two daughters aged 7 and 4—to Lulworth Castle for their 'Spring Family Fun' event. This special family themed event is running from April 6th to April 21st and is definitely worth adding to your Easter holidays itinerary. We had so much fun!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the impressive sight of Lulworth Castle (a 17th-century structure surrounded by expansive lawns and woodland) and to the kids' excitement, from the car park we could see an Alice in Wonderland character outside the entrance dancing and waving enthusiastically at them.  They squealed with delighted and mirrored the actions and stopped for a high five and photo!

Activities and Attractions:

  • Kids games activities: There was so much to entertain the children and we loved that it was all quintessentially British wholesome fun - from Hook a Duck, Bubbles to traditional lawn games of Polo and Crazy Golf. The kids had a go at all of it and it was just incredible to watch them enjoying all this with the backdrop of the castle!
  • Trails and Hunts: We embarked on Alice in Wonderland themed trails that led us through the castle's grounds and the castle itself. The children were particularly excited by key hunts which were thoughtfully designed to engage young minds and encourage exploration with stops along the way to decorate masks and colour in Alice in Wonderland characters - and lots of photo opportunities along the way (including an Insta Frame!)
  • Castle Exploration: Climbing the castle tower was a highlight, offering panoramic views of both the stunning Dorset countryside and Jurassic Coast . The interior rooms, rich with history, captivated our imaginations as we wandered through - the children were really inquisitive about the old kitchens and dining rooms and it all really captured their imaginations.
  • Peacock Park Playground: Adjacent to the castle, the Peacock Park woodland playground has well-maintained equipment and a natural setting (we accidentally missed this part but it's a good reason to return again soon!

Dining Options:

After a morning of activities, we visited the Castle Tearoom; tea and scones for us adults and ice creams for the children. There is a good selection of teas, cakes, and light lunches. For those seeking a more substantial meal, the nearby Weld Arms Pub offers a hearty menu in a cozy atmosphere.

Additional Information:

  • Tickets: Priced at £9 for adults, £8 for seniors, and £6 for children (under 4s free) for all of the activities and the castle this is really reasonable price
  • Parking: There are ample spaces close to the castle and pay on exit
  • Pet-Friendly: Dogs on leads were welcomed in the castle and grounds

Conclusion:

Our visit to Lulworth Castle's Spring Family Fun event was such a wholesome, memorable experience. The combination of engaging activities, historical exploration, and beautiful surroundings provided such a fulfilling day out for three generations of our family. We will definitely be returning for future events (and for our missed playground visit) and highly recommend it to other families seeking some magical Spring fun.
