Review: Whitecliff Park

Parks are my absolute go to at the minute, just like every other parent desperate to let their children run off some energy. Today we decided to try Whitecliff Park.

I haven’t been here since my eldest Ethan was around 3 - so a good four years ago. I have to say it’s brilliant and I’m really disappointed that I didn’t think to take the boys sooner! It’s quickly become one of our favourite parks after only the first visit!

So why do I love it so much? Well actually it’s really easy to see why. It’s located close to Poole town centre and can be found just before Sandbanks so it is very easy to get to.

There is a large open air car park that is pay and display but there is free parking on the road side. You can park on Sandbanks Road and follow the paths to the play park - it is a long walk for little legs from here though but it is level right the way to the play park. There is also parking on Whitecliff Road. This road runs down the side of the whole park so you can park very close to the play park BUT to get down to the play park there are steps which aren’t very suitable for bumping prams down.

You can park here and follow the road round towards Sandbanks Road and you will come to an opening with no steps. There is a toilet block with a large family toilet incorporated too. There is always a food van of some sort in the car park so you can always pick up a coffee and if you wanted they offer snacks too. At the weekend there is often an ice cream van too because who doesn’t love an ice cream in the sunshine at the park?

Whitecliff isn’t just a play park. There is also huge areas of fields with football goals dotted around - don’t forget your ball! There is also a main path right round the waters edge along with paths through some of the grassy areas. These are really well maintained and perfect for scooters or bikes! You can walk from Whitecliff Park right the way round into Poole Park if you wanted a longer walk.

But now onto the play park! For a starter it’s very well enclosed with plenty of picnic benches that are placed so you can still see all of the play park. There are two play frames. A helicopter shaped one aimed at toddlers and a larger one. The helicopter play park is perfect for my 2 year old twins and even has 2 separate slides so saves on the fighting over who goes first! Because this is aimed at toddlers the boys can climb up the steps and explore it on their own without me.

The larger play frame kept Ethan entertained the whole time we were there with slides, monkey bars, bridges and a fireman’s pole. It’s really unusual to find somewhere that has enough equipment to keep all 3 boys happy! There are swings and toddler swings as well as a roundabout too. There is also a large sandpit with another play frame in it and a digger if the play park wasn’t enough.

I’m really struggling to find things that I don't like or would change about this park. I would definitely recommend adding it to your list of go to parks. Try it and let me know what you think!
