The maternity ward has now relocated to its new home at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital’s BEACH Building, with a state-of-the-art maternity and neonatal unit and a capacity to welcome over 4,400 babies each year.
The new purpose-built BEACH Building at Royal Bournemouth Hospital promises:
- Modern maternity facilities with individual rooms and additional space for partners or caregivers
- An improved experience for parents and families
- Elimination of hospital transfers for complex cases or emergencies
- Wessex’s only Level 2 neonatal centre, supporting babies from across the region
- Close proximity to Emergency, Critical Care, and Children's Health departments
While this is a bittersweet farewell, the move represents a significant step forward for maternity care in Dorset, ensuring that future generations receive the very best start in life.
