From beautiful floral tributes at the War Memorial in Poole Park to thousands of heartfelt messages in condolence books around the town, people are expressing their love and respect for HM Queen Elizabeth II and the dedication she showed to her country.
The council is lighting Twin Sails Bridge in purple for the duration of the mourning period and screens are being set up next to The Kitchen in Poole Park on Monday to enable locals to watch the funeral together if they want to.
Graham Farrant, Chief Executive of BCP Council, said: “We want to give BCP residents the opportunity to come together as a community and collectively mourn the passing of our late monarch, who was widely cherished and will be remembered fondly by many residents. It is right that on this unique occasion we take additional steps to make this possible for all those who cannot or do not wish to travel to London in person.”
Councillor Nigel Hedges, Chairman of BCP Council, added: “I would also like to remind you that there will be a nationally observed one-minute silence taking place this Sunday at 8pm. I’m sure we will all stop what we are doing to take this moment to pause and reflect on Queen Elizabeth’s lifetime of service.”
