Captain America and 40 of his trusted friends will make an all-day appearance at The Dolphin Poole on Saturday 2nd December. The famous film characters will be meeting and greeting fans to help encourage a record number of present donations to Cash for Kids.
The programme for the day, organised by Wayne Mandeville of C-Star, will also feature a movie music through the years performance at 11am, and a carol concert by local choir, Funky Little Choir, at 1pm.
Alongside this, children will have the opportunity to meet their heroes and be a hero themselves by donating a gift to someone in need, with one present drop point being particularly unique and featuring a special military Jeep.
John Grinnell, Centre Manager at The Dolphin Poole, said: “We’re determined to donate a record number of gifts to make sure local children in need have a Christmas present to open this year. We have rallied the support of our retailers, the businesses based out of FOUNDRY, and called on our best superhero contacts to help make this happen.
“With a bursting schedule of character appearances, performances, and meet and greets, we’re hopeful that many families will come on down on December 2nd to help us in our mission.”
In 2022, Cash for Kids donated 2,625 presents to children in the Poole and Bournemouth area who would otherwise go without a gift at Christmas. The Dolphin’s superhero event has been designed to help beat this number in 2023, with the charity already knowing of over 3,200 children in need of a present this Christmas.
The event promises a spectacle of superhero fantasy and will feature some of the most realistic and quality character costumes available. Much-loved characters including Captain America, the Tooth Fairy, Elsa and Anna, Indiana Jones, and Iron Man will all be on hand on the day to encourage families to buy and donate a gift.
Wayne commented: “The response from our community of performers has been fantastic and we have the very best in the business signed up to help in achieving our mission.
“There is bound to be a hero at this event for every film lover and our characters are going to be on hand all day to help make a real difference for the local community. From drawing families in with performances and meet and greets, to helping to pick out toys, our superheroes will be glad to help!”
The ‘be a superhero’ event will run from 9:30am until 4pm on Saturday 2nd December 2023 with meet and greet moments and performances taking place periodically throughout the day.
