Where to Give Blood in Dorset

There are plenty of NHS venues around Dorset that take blood donations. The NHS need 1.45 million units of blood donations each year to meet the demand that they currently have, so blood donation venues are welcoming anyone eligible.

Blood donations take around one hour out of your day. 

Who is eligible: 

• Generally fit and well
• Aged between 17 and 65
• Weigh between 7 stone 12 lbs (50kg) and 25 stone (158kg)
• Have suitable veins (they will check these before you donate)
• Meet all donor eligibility criteria (they will check this with you before you donate)

What happens:

• A blood donation is taken from your arm and collected in a donation bag.
• The appointment takes around an hour, including 10 to 15 minutes to donate, alongside time to have a drink and a snack.
• You can donate again if you want to, leaving at least 12 weeks between appointments for men and 16 weeks for women.
