Comedy and latin dance nights set to energise The Mowlem in Swanage

The Mowlem in Swanage, Dorset, is launching two exciting events aimed at attracting diverse audiences: a monthly stand-up comedy club and a vibrant Latin dance party.

Comedy club 

From January 2025, The Mowlem’s new venue, The Studio, will host a monthly comedy club as part of a well-established UK comedy circuit.

Audiences can expect performances by three emerging comedians each month, with shows scheduled for Wednesday evenings.

Comedy club dates:

• Wednesday 22nd January, 7:30 pm (doors open at 7 pm)

• Wednesday 19th February, 7:30 pm (doors open at 7 pm)

• Wednesday 19th March, 7:30 pm (doors open at 7 pm)

Tickets for the comedy club are priced at £12 (£10 for Friends, plus booking fees). Sales open on Friday, 15th November, at 11 am through The Mowlem’s box office and website. Note: The shows are for ages 14+ due to adult content.

Cuban beats and latin moves

On Saturday, 30th November 2024, The Showbar will transform into a hub of Cuban and Latin music and dance. The event features a mix of daytime salsa classes for all levels and an evening dance party starting at 8 pm, with a fun salsa class followed by social dancing until midnight.

Salsa Classes Schedule:

• 1 pm: Absolute beginners

• 2 pm: Absolute beginners and high beginners

• 3 pm: Improvers and intermediates

Tickets for the Latin dance party are £12 for the evening, £14 per daytime class, or £25 for the full event. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Versatile performance space

The Studio, refurbished in 2024, has already hosted successful events, including film screenings, book talks, and dance sessions. It is currently home to weekly salsa classes led by Bournemouth-based Latin dance expert Enrique Perez.
