From operations and events to retail and leadership, the women of Adventure Attractions play a crucial role in shaping our company and ensuring that every visitor experiences unforgettable moments.

This year, we asked some of our incredible female team members what IWD means to them and who inspires them the most. Their responses highlight not only the importance of this global celebration but also the personal and professional impact of strong female role models.

A Day to Celebrate and Empower

For Asia Macias de la Rosa, Operations Manager, IWD is a time to celebrate achievements but also to reflect on the importance of removing barriers. “It’s a reminder to promote equality where every individual has the opportunity to succeed, lead, and contribute based on their talent.”

Rosie Vaughey, Events & Group Coordinator, echoes this sentiment, adding that IWD is a day to “empower and uplift one another to break barriers and recognise the importance of women in society.”

Retail Operations Manager Paula Bese sees it as a “powerful reminder of the progress made on women’s equal rights in the workplace and beyond,” while Managing Director Sarah Hunter calls it an opportunity “to celebrate and recognise the value of women in society and how far we’ve come in creating a more gender-equal world.”

Women Who Inspire

From personal role models to historic figures, our team finds inspiration in many forms. Mothers, sisters, and friends feature prominently, with Asia and Paula crediting their mothers for teaching them resilience, kindness, and determination. Rosie finds inspiration in her sister, Jade, who has taught her to never settle for less and always know her worth. Meanwhile, Sarah admires the leadership and dedication of Queen Elizabeth II, a figure of stability and strength throughout decades of change.

Advice for the Next Generation

Each of these women has valuable advice for those looking to grow in similar roles. Confidence and passion are key themes, with Paula encouraging others to “find something that brings you joy, work hard, and never give up.” Rosie reminds women to step outside their comfort zones, while Sarah highlights the importance of resilience: “Be confident, take risks, and be prepared to work hard great leadership isn’t about gender; it’s about initiative and determination.”
