REVIEW: Laura Mackenzie Hair Design
Are you juggling work/parenting/life and struggling to find the time to wash your hair let alone get your roots done? Ditto!
Visiting the hairdresser has always been a stressful experience for me rather than a relaxing one as indulging in a 4 + hour visit to get my hair cut and coloured is just too much with the eternal juggle.
If you live in Dorset, I have found the solution for you!
Introducing Laura Mackenzie Hair Design in Poole. I was introduced to Laura through a work colleague and I'm so grateful. Laura isn't based on one of the local high streets so you may not have previously heard of her - she's been a hidden gem!
Being off the High Street though there are benefits; lots of free parking right outside and a central location - no stress, and a fraction of the price.
Laura has a beautifully decorated salon in Bayside Business Centre just by the gorgeous Holes Bay in Poole. Laura specialises in bridal hair, cutting, colour and wig fitting.
Super Speedy Skills
What makes Laura the best choice for you busy folks out there, is that Laura is absolutely happy for you to work remotely from your laptop (fast wi-fi to boot), while she works her magic. Not only that, she is extremely fast and efficient - and very importantly, without sacrificing the quality.
I have a lot of hair and a full head of foils with a cut would previously have taken at least 4-5 hours. Laura had given me a full head of beautiful highlights, a fantastic cut and blow dry in just 2 hours. But it didn't feel rushed and the results certainly don't look it either - Laura got really close to the root and has achieved a natural-looking colour.
I asked her how she managed to achieve these results in such a short space of time, and she said it's because she uses packets instead of foils (these also felt much nicer on my head rather than scratchy foils).
My hair often feels dry after a colour, but my hair has felt silky smooth and shiny thanks to Laura's high-quality products. Laura was also understanding when I requested for her not to use toner as I feel it dries my hair out even more and I dislike the ashy outcome of toner (most hairdressers normally try and convince me otherwise and ignore my request).
I honestly walked out after 2 hours knowing I'd saved myself 3 hours and at least £80 having achieved a better result than I would have from a 'high-end' salon - and not being behind on work.
Ambience and Facilities
This was actually the most relaxing experience I've had at the hair salon as I didn't have the anxiety of having lots of work to catch up on afterwards so I did actually relax and take time to enjoy my luxury cappuccino (top marks for a great beverage selection too!), and to enjoy the relaxing ambience in the salon. Laura has such an infectious and warm personality too so although she really didn't mind me working, I really enjoyed having a good old natter.
Pricing and value for money
The pricing here is more than reasonable as you are not paying for a high street location. You can expect to pay half the price of your usual cut and colour. My full head, cut and blow-dry cost £80.
Overall, I am so happy to have found a salon that is close to my work and home and is one that allows remote working and is fast without sacrificing the quality of the outcome. The salon has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and Laura is just excellent; I'm so impressed by her skills and attention to detail. The salon uses high-quality products, and the customer service is excellent. I would highly recommend Laura not just to those in a hurry but to anyone looking for a local hairdresser.
Laura also specialises in bridal hair and wig fitting. Customers can book appointments online or by telephone, and the salon is open six days a week (closed on Mondays).
