Meet our Newest Local Poole Blogger

Hi everyone – my name is Ally and it’s really nice to meet you! I am a local girl who owns a Social Media Agency called Frost Flower Promotions & I am really excited to be working with Total Guide to Poole. I’m here to introduce myself a little bit so if you’d like to get to know me, just keep reading.

Growing up, I was spoilt. Living in Poole, I had access to seven miles of stunning beach, the Jurassic coast and as many forest walks & countryside strolls as you could ever want. I can honestly say I had a great childhood exploring all these places and after a few years of living away, I’ve gravitated back.

I decided to come back in 2019 to complete the MSc Event Management program at Bournemouth University. My course was the best decision I’d made in a long time and it was made up of almost every nationality imaginable. It was with pride that I would take my international friends to my favourite local spots on a regular basis (it was probably more for me than them, but I think they also appreciated having a free tour guide).

I left university last summer with a qualification in Event Management, but as you probably guessed, it was next to impossible to find any positions in that industry amid the COVID pandemic. Events were on hold for the foreseeable future, so I had to approach job hunting in a different way – and employed myself!

I took the marketing knowledge I had learnt on my course and identify where there might be a need for specialist help, which was social media. I knew that smaller businesses couldn’t always afford to employ a full-time marketer, but maybe they would appreciate a freelancer taking care of their online presence – and this turned out to definitely be the case! Since October I have been self-employed and can honestly say I love it. I love the creative freedom of freelancing and it has opened me up to so many new opportunities that I never would have had if I was in a standard 9-5.

One of those opportunities is of course, writing for Total Guide to Poole! This is honestly a dream job for me and I can’t wait to get stuck in. Going forward, you can expect to find posts about all of my favourite hidden gems & a local’s guide on how to get the most out of Poole. PLUS, once events restart, I will be using my knowledge and experience to produce guides and reviews of local events – hopefully just in time for the summer.
