The bakery giant has submitted plans to fill the former Topshop and Topman site on Old Christchurch Road. Spanning across two floors, the proposed branch will utilise the ground floor for retail operations while reserving the first floor solely for staff facilities, according to a representative for Greggs. Should the application be approved, it would mean there are three Greggs locations within Bournemouth's town centre. The vacant retail space on Old Christchurch Road has remained unoccupied since Topshop’s Asos acquisition, in 2021.
Ropemaker Properties' proposal to partially dismantle the building's upper floors and replace them with 12 residential units is currently under review. As outlined in a design and access statement prepared by The Harris Partnership on behalf of the developers, the ground floor will be divided into two retail sections, with the remaining area above will be used for residential purposes.
Residents of the future apartments will enjoy exclusive access to modern amenities such as a rooftop garden and gym facilities.
