Review: Beautifully Gorgeous Salon

I am sure many of you will empathise with my scenario; having a trusted and talented hairdresser you have been to for years, then moving home too far away to realistically continue to use them! I found myself in this predicament this summer!

I have wayward curly/frizzy hair with a lot of baby hair around the hairline. I lighten my mousey brown hair with foils, and I struggle to find a hairdresser to get close enough to the root because of the baby hair. I have all too often spent hours getting my roots done only to be disappointed when I get home that I still appear to have roots.

My dilemma was solved by my fantastic team who thoughtfully did some research and after finding Beautifully Gorgeous on Ashley Road, very kindly gave me a gift voucher for my birthday in August.

I have just used the voucher to get my Covid roots done (the growth was from last Christmas!), and to get my dry locks chopped. I am delighted to say that Celine, (their colour technician) did a superb job and I will not need to look elsewhere!

I am so happy with my new hair and I had such a lovely experience. They are really on the ball with Covid Health and Safety to boot!

To be honest, I would have been surprised if I had come away disappointed; all the communication from the minute I booked, the team and their processes have been extremely professional and helpful.

I have just had a baby, so I wanted to get the timing right between feeds and they allocated the right time for me to have a half head of foils and trim. I decided to forgo a blow-dry and style because time was an issue which I didn't really want to do but needs must!

A few days before my appointment, Beautifully Gorgeous emailed a survey to find out more about my hair and the look I wanted to achieve, they also asked whether I would prefer to chat or to be left to relax - if only all salons asked that question! 

I was greeted warmly on arrival and all the usual hand-washing and gel procedures are as you'd expect. There are screens between each station, so you have your own little cubicle so it's very safe. 

Celine had a quick chat with me to clarify the look I was going for, then got to work and was super speedy but efficient with the foils. I had long roots, so the bleach took a little while to take but Celine checked regularly and didn't rush as she's clearly a perfectionist. Once satisfied, she then applied a toner to achieve the natural blonde look I was going for. I must admit, I was a little nervous at this point as the toner was on for a while and a few members of the team assisted Celine with the application but this was just her wanting to keep a close eye on it and being patient waiting for exactly the right shade.

I breathed a sigh of relief when the towel was removed! The colour is gorgeous and the foils were applied really close to the root.

Celine got to work on my split ends and took away a few inches but kept checking with me to make sure she wasn't doing anything I wouldn't be happy with, she added in a few layers to keep my existing style.

Celine then went over and above - not wanting to let me leave my pamper session without the full works, she asked a fellow member of staff to help her give me a blow-dry so I could leave the salon on time! I've never seen anything like it - it looked like a hair drying contest - they both methodically and enthusiastically dried and styled my new locks within 10 minutes. It was so nice walking out of the salon not feeling like the frumpy Mum of two I felt like just 3 hours previous!

I'm so pleased I have found such a great salon close by. When I have a little bit more time, I think I will go for it and get my nails done too!
