REVIEW: New Highlands Spa Treatment At Lush Spa Poole

Having recently experienced 'The Spell' treatment at Lush Spa in Poole, I was excited to be invited to try the recently launched Highlands Spa Treatment - a brand new 60 minute Full Body Hot Stone Massage.

I was intrigued to give it a try as Lush treatments all differ and all have their own unique theatrical experience.

A pamper was very much due as my husband is away with work for a long time and the timing couldn't have been more perfect as my in-laws were staying for the weekend so I was able to enjoy a few hours of me time.

The children and the in-laws came into town with me so they could have a mooch around the Old Town and Poole Quay. The kids insisted on dropping me into Lush as they could see the entrance was via the shop. They got completely spoiled by the staff who demonstrated bath bombs and gave them a little bag of mini samples. They were absolutely delighted but I've no doubt it's going to cost me at Christmas!

With them happily trying their new products, I entered the spa and was greeted by a very calm and friendly Anna who's passion for the spa and the new treatment were evident from of the off-set.

Lush Spa treatments are so much more than a pamper, it's actually a rather theatrical experience and something that touches all the senses.

I was welcomed into a reception area to enjoy a fresh highland water while Anna explained the concept behind the new treatment and what to expect. From the moment you step into the spa, the atmosphere feels like an invitation to escape the stresses of daily life, with earthy scents and soft ambient music creating an environment of calm.

Anna explained the significance and history of the stones and even did a mini reading which is such a lovely way to take a moment to relax and have a spiritual moment; I chose 3 stones that most resonated with me and Anna explained their meaning and relevance to the treatment.

It was then time to enter the treatment room which was so warm and relaxing with candles and the most beautiful earthy scents filling the room.

It is truly the best treatment I've ever experienced - which was a pleasant surprise, as my perception of a Hot Stone massage was that the hot stones are simply placed on your muscles rather than used with the oils (infused with wild-grown botanicals to evoke the fresh, crisp air of the Highlands). The hot stones offer 10 times more heat than 2 hands which really is so wonderfully effective.

Not an inch of my skin was missed (mini stones were even used on my face), and a full 60 minutes really gives you time to fully immerse yourself in the experience. With my previous experience of 'The Spell' which is a foot massage, I found the music to be too upbeat which made it difficult for me to fully relax but the music for this treatment really added to the experience and it felt like took you on a relaxing journey through the Scottish mountains; the Gaelic tones were beautifully relaxing.

By the end of it I felt like I was floating; deeply relaxed and connected with nature. I really didn't want to leave, but the 90 minutes of me time will have set me up for some more solo parenting nicely.

This really was a memorable experience that I can't wait to repeat (and I'm also tempted to book a trip to the Scottish Highlands!). Thank you Lush Spa.
