Work begins on Upton Country Park's new Welcome Centre

Construction has started on Upton Country Park's new Welcome Centre as the park looks to welcome more visitors to its beautiful surroundings in 2022 with the project set to be complete by Autumn of this year.

A statement published on the BCP Council website read:

Work has begun on the new Welcome Centre at the popular Upton Country Park. This new building will be a modern and dynamic facility located in the car park creating a gateway to the Country Park. It will be a place for people to meet, plan their visit, uncover the fascinating history of the former Upton Estate and perhaps sign up to become a much-valued volunteer. 

The opening of this fabulous new building is expected to be in the autumn of 2022. The facilities in and around the current toilet block have been temporarily re-sited whilst the Welcome Centre is constructed.

Made possible with the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund and with the support of the Friends of Upton Country Park, the current phase of work also includes the restoration of the historic vistas connecting the south front of the Grade II* Listed Georgian Mansion House with its unique Holes Bay shoreline. 

The Upton Country Park team will also be introducing a bird hide on the shoreline with vegetation clearance ready for the installation of the bird hide taking place this month ahead of nesting season.
