We recommend
Since re-opening in May, there have been a few changes to our sites to ensure the safety of visitors and site staff. Our opening hours at Nuffield, Poole and Millhams, Bournemouth are now back to our normal summer opening hours, from 9am to 5pm. Wilverley, Christchurch is open from 9am to 6pm.
We’re still operating the sites on reduced capacity to ensure that social distancing is upheld, and we ask that you do not bring children or pets with you at this time. Any waste that may have come into contact with someone who has coronavirus must be put aside for 72 hours before disposal.
Commercial waste reopening
The commercial waste facilities at our Household Recycling Centres are reopening on Monday 10 August for our trade customers.
We anticipate a high demand when we reopen and in order to keep queuing to a minimum and ensure the safety of everyone, please ensure that you familiarise yourselves with all the changes before coming to site.
Opening hours:
Dispose of your PPE correctly
It is now the law to wear a face covering in England in all indoor public places. A great way to stay safe, reduce your waste and be kinder to the planet is to use a reusable fabric facemask. These are readily available to purchase, or you can follow a tutorial on how to make your own.
If you’re using disposable masks, please ensure that you place them in your general waste bin once you are finished wearing it. These masks are not recyclable in our kerbside collection, and it’s important that they are correctly disposed of and do not end up as litter in our environment.
BCP Council's recycling rates have improved!
Thanks to all your amazing efforts, our recycling, reuse and compost rate is 53.9%, above the Government’s target of 50%. Correctly recycling your waste ensures that we protect the environment, conserve resources and save energy.
What can go in your recycling bin?
Your rubbish, your responsibility
Flytipping poses a threat to humans and wildlife, damages the environment and spoils our enjoyment of our beautiful towns and open spaces.
It is illegal to dump waste, and the courts have various powers available to tackle flytipping including imprisonment and a fine, so always ensure you use a genuine waste carrier to take away your rubbish.
Thank you to our waste collection crews!
We want to say a massive thank you to our amazing waste collection crews for all their hard work and commitment over these last few months.
As a frontline, essential service, our crews were unable to work from home and have been working tirelessly to provide a continuous service for residents whilst facing unprecedented challenges.
