Monkey World
Monkey World, located in Wareham, Dorset, is a renowned ape and monkey sanctuary dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of primates from around the world.
Spanning 65 acres, it provides a safe haven for over 250 primates, including chimpanzees, orangutans, and gibbons, many of whom were rescued from illegal wildlife trafficking, laboratories, or abusive situations.
Visitors can learn about conservation efforts and enjoy watching the primates in naturalistic enclosures. The park also plays a key role in global primate welfare and conservation, making it a must-visit destination for wildlife enthusiasts and families alike.
Monkey World not only offers a unique opportunity to see a wide variety of primates up close but also serves as an educational hub, raising awareness about the threats these animals face in the wild and in captivity. The park is home to the largest group of chimpanzees outside of Africa and is actively involved in international breeding programs for endangered species, such as orangutans and woolly monkeys.
Its work extends globally, collaborating with law enforcement agencies to combat illegal primate smuggling. With interactive exhibits, guided talks, and spacious enclosures designed to mimic natural habitats, Monkey World provides a fun, educational, and meaningful day out while supporting a critical mission to protect and preserve primates worldwide.
Families can also enjoy the picnic areas, café, and children's adventure playgrounds, making it a perfect blend of conservation and recreation.
