FLOG IT! PRESENTER PAUL MARTIN TO HOST VALUATION DAY IN BLANDFORD FORUM

Well known popular TV antique expert, Paul Martin, will be sharing his knowledge and experience with the residents of Dorset on Tuesday 24th September by hosting a free community valuation day at The Crown Hotel in Blandford Forum.

The valuation day, which is being run in partnership with world renowned Devizes auctioneers Henry Aldridge & Son, for which Paul is Head of Valuations, will take place between 10:30am – 3pm and is intended to encourage members of the public to dust off those items they’ve always been curious about and bring them along to be discussed, valued and perhaps sold.

Paul would be delighted to see items ranging from antiques, collectables, silver, gold, militaria and jewellery.

The day is part of a programme of valuation days being run Paul in his role with Henry Aldridge & Son and Paul says he is excited to see what the people of Blandford Forum will bring along.

Paul expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event, saying: “Dorset has a rich history, and I’m always excited to see the fascinating items people bring in. These days offer a unique opportunity to uncover hidden treasures and hear the incredible stories behind them.”

The Crown Hotel, a historical gem in the heart of Blandford Forum, is a fitting venue for the valuation day. With a history dating back to the 13th century, the hotel has served as a coaching inn and has been a pivotal part of the town’s development over the centuries. Today, it stands as a testament to the town's enduring charm, with its Georgian architecture offering a glimpse into the past.

David Norton, general manager at The Crown Hotel, shared his excitement, saying, “For a hotel and town steeped in so much history, we’re excited to have such a practised antiques dealer like Paul visit us to share his knowledge and expertise. It will be interesting to see if he spots any treasures whilst visiting us at the hotel.”

The valuation day gives locals a wonderful opportunity to have their items appraised by an expert and to gain insights into both their historical and monetary value.

“Whether it’s a family heirloom or a curious find, I’m eager to explore the stories behind each item,” said Paul.

“Even though I am a tv presenter and still enjoy my broadcast career, I’m an antiques man at heart and these events allow me to get back to what drives me — the people, their objects and the stories they tell.”

Paul, who presented the BBC show, Flog It! is also known for TV shows such as Antiques Road Trip and Britain’s Hidden Heritage, and has a new programme, Paul Martin’s Auction Showdown, showing on My5.
