Shire Hall Museum
Shire Hall Museum brings over 200 years of justice and injustice to life.
Walk in the footsteps of people whose lives were forever changed in the historic court at Dorchester’s Shire Hall Museum. Immerse yourself in the cells before ascending to the dock. Experience it for yourself.
Shire Hall Museum uncovers moving and important stories of everyday people’s interactions with the justice system since the late 18th century. It shows how the law affects all of us, and how we can also affect the law. The Museum makes this extraordinary building and these fascinating stories available and enjoyable for all.
From interactive galleries to the immersive cells and courtroom, the Museum offers something for everyone, from all backgrounds and of all ages. Throughout the school holidays, Shire Hall Museum hosts additional activities for families- from slime-making in the cells for Halloween to craft activities.
