Exciting new hire for Dolphin Centre as Poole ramps up community engagement offerings
A Community Manager has been hired at Poole’s Dolphin Centre to run the brand-new GATHER unit, which will redefine the traditional shopping centre experience and bring a number of community-based events all year round.
Carmen Moore started the position on 16th August and will liaise with local businesses, charities, and individuals to bring consistent and diverse offerings to GATHER, opening in September. The Dolphin Centre is aiming to book up to 1,000 events per year, from pop-ups, art exhibitions, charity events, exercise classes and many more.
Carmen Moore said: “GATHER is an amazing programme which I strongly believe will bring Poole together as a community. I have had an overwhelmingly positive response so far from members of the public and local businesses which has been wonderful; being part of such change in Poole has been so rewarding already. In a post-lockdown world people are much more aware of the importance of supporting their local community, and all the new offerings at the Dolphin are really helping people do just that.”
The 1,400 square feet GATHER unit is located opposite Beales on the ground floor of the centre and will be open 7 days a week from 9am to 5.30pm. The unit is predominantly a blank space, lending itself to a wide variety of uses, and includes free Wi-Fi, with furniture on request.
GATHER is part of Legal & General Investment Management Real Assets’ vision to reinvent how people view shopping centres and breathe new life into the town.
Carmen has a rich history of engaging with the local community and brings many contacts within the local and wider business scene. She will continue to build relationships with organisations which can benefit from the GATHER space and work to build a programme of events for members of the public from all ages and backgrounds to enjoy.
Additionally, Carmen will be co-ordinating the new street food markets located at KINGLAND, also opening in September.

People and organisations who book the GATHER space may charge for their services within the unit, but the unit itself is free to book.
