Billam-Smith back with points win over Glanton
Bournemouth’s cruiserweight sensation Chris Billam-Smith got back to winning ways with a unanimous points victory over American Brandon Glanton.
The former world champion prevailed 116-113, 116-112 and 116-112 on the judges’ scorecards at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Victory got started the former Poole ABC fighter’s ambition to become a two-time world champion.
Assessing the fight, Billam-Smith told the Daily Echo: “I knew I could beat him, I knew I'm a better fighter and I felt comfortable in there and didn't really feel like I had to go up through the gears too much.
“I knew how tough he was and if I really, really pressed it, it could become almost harder than it needed to be.
“So kept it clean, felt like I was winning comfortably.”
Victory was Billam-Smith’s 21st as a professional, the Shane McGuigan-trained star having suffered just two defeats since turning pro back in 2017.
