Brennan wants to push on at Poole Pirates as he explains SGB Championship U-turn
New Poole Pirates recruit Tom Brennan hopes his arrival at Wimborne Road will push forward his exciting career.
The 22-year-old stunned the SGB Championship scene when he was announced as a Pirates signing over the winter, having lifted the league title at Wimborne Road in the play-off final as a Glasgow Tiger last season.
But having headed to the south coast after previously thinking he would not compete in British speedway’s second tier in 2024, Brennan is exited to get going as a heat leader with Poole.
Speaking at the club’s press and practice day, the Swindon-born GB star said: “If I’m honest, it was actually bye bye to the league for me. It was sort of a stepping stone I wanted to make.

“Then we had the options come around and we were looking at where I could improve the most and where would push me the most.
“Poole want to win, it’s a club I seem to be struggling at when I come here notoriously during the year! I struggled with the consistency. So, this a place that can push me and it’s a place that can hopefully push my career forward.
“We decided to come and make the jump, stay in the league and we are really happy to be here.”
Brennan will feature in the skull and crossbones for the first time when Pirates host the Oxford Cheetahs in their BSN Series opener on Friday (7.30pm).
