Poole Pirates racer Brennan earns spot at Cardiff Grand Prix
Tom Brennan labelled earning a wildcard for the FIM Speedway Grand Prix in Cardiff a “massive experience” after an impressive showing in the British Final.
The Poole Pirates racer secured a direct route to the grand final as the highest scorer in the heats at Belle Vue’s National Speedway Stadium on Saturday.
Brennan banked 13 out of a possible 15 and was joined by hat-trick title seeking Dan Bewley.
Four past Poole riders - Tai Woffinden, Chris Harris, Steve Worrall and Adam Ellis all qualified for the last-chance saloon heat, with previous three-time winner Woffinden producing a quality pass to go by the early two leaders Worrall and Harris, the latter holding on to second to make it through.
Brennan came third in the finale behind winner Bewley and Woffinden. With them both already being on the Grand Prix circuit, it means the Swindon-born charger will take his place among the elite at Principality Stadium on August 17.

Brennan said "I had a fantastic night, just a shame I couldn't go the extra step but I guess that is mainly down to experience.
“If you look at the three guys next to me they obviously know how to handle the situation. My team did fantastic and thanks to my family and sponsors who have got me here, but obviously I still have a way to go and those boys showed me the way to do it in the final.
“But definitely we'll keep working and Cardiff is something very special for British riders and it is a massive occasion for myself.
“To rock up against the best riders in the world is obviously my dream so for me it is going to be a massive experience. I am going to take this opportunity with both hands."
