Brennan dubbed 'speedway workaholic' during incredible Pirates season
Former Poole Pirates star Tom Brennan has been dubbed the “speedway workaholic” of 2024.
Former Poole Pirates star Tom Brennan has been dubbed the “speedway workaholic” of 2024.
The Swindon-born racer topped the standings, compiled by reports in Poland, after racing in an incredible 109 meetings last year.
Another ex-Pirate Chris Harris was second on the list, with 91 meetings in total.
Snapped up by Poole ahead of the 2024 campaign, Brennan played a key role in helping Neil Middleditch’s team secure a historic treble of trophies.
Poole picked up the BSN Series, SGB Championship and Knockout Cup last season, a clean sweep of major team silverware in the second division in Britain.
But with more commitments in both Britain and across Europe in 2025, Brennan confirmed he would not be racing in Britain’s second tier.
He said: “I’ve had a lot of questions regarding my plans for 2025 and I can now announce that I will be stepping away from Championship racing next season.
“I’ve had a lot of fun during my time in the Championship since 2021 and have learnt a lot in my time representing Eastbourne, Glasgow and Poole.
“However, there comes a time where I have to take the jump to try and do what I think will progress my career the most and unfortunately dropping Championship is a part of that.
“I couldn’t have wished for a better way to end my time in the Championship for now than completing the treble with Poole.
“I’ve made it no secret that my time with the club has been extremely enjoyable and a large part in teaching me a different way of racing and my improvement this year.
“Hopefully, I can wear the Pirate on my chest again some time soon and can’t thank Matt, Danny, Havvy, Middlo, the fans and everybody behind the scenes for my time with the club.”
