Pirates ace Foord: What a season is it has been
Resilient reserve Vinnie Foord admitted it was a “massive shock” to be given the call by Poole Pirates mid-season, before going on to claim the treble.
The 18-year-old replaced Max Perry in the number seven spot at Wimborne Road – the only team change Poole made all season.
Foord received array of online hate after two crashes in the SGB Championship play-off final against Oxford.
But the youngster admitted he did not let it bother him, as he helped Poole claim the league title, Knockout Cup and BSN Series crown.
Foord told the club website: “I haven't taken much notice of all the stuff that has been said. I just concentrated on getting some points.
“But what a season is it has been. It was a massive shock for me to get the call from Poole in the first place. I had just dropped to reserve in the National League at the time, but what more could you ask for.
“I know that I need to continue working on my starts but I feel that I have improved all round as a rider."
Foord is yet to be declared in a team for 2025. Poole have at present retained the services of number one Richard Lawson and new skipper Zach Cook.
