Pirates promoter Ford says Poole fans 'deserve winning sides'
Poole Pirates promoter Danny Ford stressed his burning desire to deliver for the club’s supporters and said: “We believe our fans deserve winning sides.”
Since competing back in the SGB Championship three years ago, Pirates won every major team prize in their first two campaigns.
But having missed out on the league crown as well as the Knockout Cup last season, Ford’s focus is fully on putting things right.
He told the club website: “I can't emphasise enough just how much we value the backing of our fans and when we talk to riders, we make it clear that we want to win, because we believe our fans deserve winning sides.
“It hurt us last year allowing the league and cup to get away but I can assure our supporters that the riders we have assembled for 2024 are as determined as I am to get those trophies back in our cabinet.”
Pirates fans still have until Monday, March 11, to secure their season tickets for the campaign, with the Poole promoter confirming sales were on the up in comparison to previous second-tier campaigns.
"I am really pleased to see so many supporters sticking by us and showing their loyalty,” he said.
“Since joining the Championship in 2021 we have seen the number of season ticket holders increase each year and that is so encouraging for us as a club, especially as, by our standards, we had a barren 2023, with just the BSN title claimed.”
Pirates’ club shop will be open between 10am and 2pm on both Saturday (March 9) and Sunday (March 10). There will also be the chance to purchase a wide range of club merchandise.
Poole begin their campaign with a home fixture against Oxford on Friday, March 29.
