Kerr excited for 2025 campaign with Pirates

Lewis Kerr insisted 2025 was “the most excited I’ve been for a season in a long time” as he bids for a successful season with Poole Pirates.

The racer, who had a brief spell as a Pirate in 2017, arrives at Wimborne Road on a 7.76 Championship average, as Poole look to defend a treble of trophies this season.

A stalwart of British speedway over the past 15 years, Kerr has surprisingly missed out on a Premiership team place at the start of the campaign.

But he believes putting in performances for Poole will earn him a spot at the top level.

The 34-year-od said: “I’m really excited to be at Poole, probably the most excited I’ve been for a season in a long time.

“It’s about an hour and a half closer than what Berwick was last season.

“I was as surprised as anyone that I didn’t get a Premiership place, but as long as I prove I’m okay and start the season well then I think someone will come in.”

Pirates will begin their campaign with a mouth-watering BSN Series double-header against Oxford Cheetahs in April.

The Wimborne Road outfit will make the trip to Cowley on April 16th before returning to for their home leg on Good Friday (April 18th).
