Marson explains reasoning for temporary Pirates move
Matt Marson has explained his decision to ride for Poole Pirates on a temporary basis – insisting “it's a good opportunity to get myself in the shop window”.
The Aussie racer is set to join the defending SGB Championship title holders on a 2.00 average.
But Marson has signed for the Pirates only momentarily, with rising star William Cairns set to take his place once he becomes eligible for a professional licence on 29th June.
Despite the fleeting nature of the signing, the 24-year-old is eager to make his mark at Wimborne Road.
"I'm excited to join Poole. It's a great team—they prove it every year,” said Perth-born Marson.
“It will be amazing to be part of a club with such a rich history.
“I know I'm only here for a dozen or so meetings, but it's a good opportunity to get myself in the shop window and gain more experience.
“A few people have raised eyebrows, but who's going to say no to more meetings and more time on the bike?"
Marson has also joined the Edinburgh Monarchs academy, as part of their National League setup this season.
Pirates are set to visit Oxford Cheetahs in their BSN Series opener on Wednesday, April 16.
