Pirates clicking perfectly after hat-trick of wins in a week
Poole Pirates star Tom Brennan insisted his team had “clicked perfectly” after they recorded three victories in a week.
The GB ace was speaking after Poole overcame Workington Comets 53-37 in SGB Championship action at Northside.
A day previously, they beat Glasgow Tigers in a last-heat decider 46-44, having already hammered Scunthorpe 60-29 in the semi-final first leg of the Knockout Cup.
After winning at Workington, in which he scored a paid maximum of 14+1, Brennan told the club website: “The whole team clicked perfectly, the sun was out the whole meeting so all in all it was a good day.
“It's been a good tour. Having a busy weekend is always good.
“You are fresh on the bike and the mind's ready and we might be a long way from home right now but the journey back is certainly going to be a lot easier.”
Pirates are on course for all three domestic trophies this season, having also booked a place in the semi-finals of the BSN series.
Northern team manager Gary Havelock added: “I think, since we dropped into this league, I know we have always had good sides, but right at this moment I don't think we have ever been better.
“So, touch wood and we keep everybody fit, then all I can say is that it will take an absolutely fabulous team to beat us.
“It's down to us now. Down to the boys. How badly they want it and looking in each of their eyes then I can tell you, they want it. They really want it."
Pirates are next in action when they host Glasgow at Wimborne Road on Wednesday (7.30pm).
