'Special' strike for Scott but AFC Bournemouth suffer defeat at Spurs
Alex Scott’s first Premier League goal proved not enough for AFC Bournemouth, as they slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.
The attacking midfielder, a boyhood Spurs fan, applied a neat left-foot finish into the bottom corner at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, capping off a slick move after neat work from Philip Billing and Marcus Tavernier.
Andoni Iraola’s side were already 3-0 down at that stage however, as they slipped to their first defeat in eight league games.
Quizzed about his goal, former Bristol City youngster Scott told afcbTV: “It’s a special feeling. I think you always work your whole life as a kid to score in the Premier League. To do it here as well, it’s definitely a special, special feeling.
“I had my family in the stand as well, who got to see it.
“I grew up as a Spurs fan, my dad is a massive spurs fan as well. I think it was almost written a little bit that I’d score my first goal here.”

Spurs’s opener came after just nine minutes in north London.
After goalkeeper Neto lost possession, Pape Sarr was allowed space to pick his spot and beat the Brazilian stopper from the edge of the box.
Home captain Son Heung-Min then added a second 19 minutes from time after springing the offside trap, before Richarlison tapped home a third ahead of Scott’s consolation strike.
Scott did head in a second late on but was deemed offside.
The 20-year-old added: “Obviously the result was the main thing, we didn’t manage to get the three points but I think as a whole we played pretty well. We created chances.
“You can’t win every game, we were on a good run of form and we wanted to continue that.
“You come to a place like this… it’s a tough team to play and a tough place to come. We lost the game but hopefully we can build and win next week.”
Cherries’ next test comes in the FA Cup, where they make the trip to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
The Dorset club could have a reunion with club legend Steve Cook and goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
